One of the most lovely autumn events, the Wild Pomegranate Day (Dani divljeg šipka), will return on 7 November in Zagarač, organisers have announced.
This marks the eighth year that the NGO “Za napredak Zagarača” is hosting the festival, aiming to promote the area’s agricultural and tourism potential through community gathering and tastings. The event continues to grow in scale each year, drawing an ever-increasing number of wild pomegranate enthusiasts.
The festival’s popular ethno-market of domestic products has become a significant draw for regional producers. Last year’s event saw an impressive turnout of 60 exhibitors from Montenegro, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Prospective exhibitors for this year’s edition can register until 15 October by contacting 067 665 511.

Promising a memorable day of traditional flavours and a lively atmosphere, the event will take place on Saturday, with the official programme running from 11:00 to 16:00 at the “Blažo Mraković” Primary School plateau in Donji Zagarač.
Visitors can look forward to a rich cultural and artistic line-up alongside a vast selection of homemade goods.
While the star of the show will naturally be the wild pomegranate, the market stalls will also showcase a variety of local delicacies, including traditional juices, jams, prosciutto, wine, brandy (rakija), cheese, honey, and priganice (traditional fried dough).
“Everything is made by hand and with love,” the organisers noted.

Authentic wild pomegranate juice remains one of Montenegro’s most unforgettable traditional flavours.
“This is more than just a market,” the organisers emphasised. “It is a vital effort to keep the village vibrant, to encourage young people to remain on their land, and to preserve a flavour that has been cherished for generations.”
See you on 7 November in Zagarač, Danilovgrad!
